HAPPY 25TH ANNIVERSARY BIG APPLE!

The Big Apple Country Dance Festival is officially 25 years young! Dancers from all over converged in July just outside New York City at the beautiful Hilton Doubletree Newark Airport for a memorable weekend of dance. It’s hard to believe that many of our attendees weren’t even born when our event began!

This was a special year for everyone but especially for Tony Lee who has lead the Big Apple since its start. John Lindo, Robert Royston, Meredith Stead and many others returned to enjoy the weekend festivities and to pay tribute during a wonderful Saturday night show. Some  shared funny stories and heartfelt moments about the early years, and together everyone celebrated Tony’s hard work and dedication which has made the event what it is today. The Big Apple has become a welcoming community of social dancers, competitors, family members, and country music fans who reconnect year after year with old friends, and make new ones, all while enjoying a spectacular weekend of dancing!

Our 2020 Apple promises to be even bigger and better, and now that we’ve gone green (thanks to our new, paperless registration system by co-director Paul Stoddard), it will surely be even more efficient. If you haven’t been to the Big Apple lately, save the dates – July 9-12, 2020 and come dance with us!
