Points Champions Qualifier – Amateurs
An Amateur Points Championship winner is awarded annually during the UCWDC Country Dance World Championships for every UCWDC division.
Points are calculated by awarding five (5) points for each division/dance completed and then adding additional points for each 1st – 5th dance placement attained in each of those division/dances, e.g., First – 5 points, Second – 4, Third – 3, Fourth – 2, Fifth – 1.
The title is awarded only if a minimum of 100 points is reached. Only contestants with a UCWDC current year membership status will receive points.
Points Champions Qualifier – Professionals
UCWDC Professional Points Championships are awarded annually to the top Male and Female ProAm Teachers. A cumulative award, these points are earned for every dance completed by each of the Pro’s students at every UCWDC event around the world during the dance season (January 15th – December 25th).
The award is based on the following qualifications and points calculation:
- Instructors North America must have students attend and compete at a minimum of 6 events
- Instructors in Europe must have students attend and compete at a minimum of 4 events
- Instructors in Asia must have students attend and compete at a minimum of 3 events
- Instructors on all other continents must have students attend and compete at a minimum of 2 events
Your continent is determined by your current permanent address. If you attend more than the required number of events, we use the highest point totals from the required number of events. Dispensations do not count towards event totals. If you lead and follow, your points are counted toward your identified gender as one total, not separately for leading and following.
Points are calculated using the following table:
- GG – 15 points
- GH+ – 12 points
- GH – 9 points
- G+ – 7 points
- G – 5 points
- S+ – 4 points
- S – 3 points
- B – 2 points
- M – 1 point
Instructors living outside of North America will have their points multiplied by the following factor (rounded up or down to the closest point total) to make it equitable to North American teachers:
- Points for European instructors are multiplied by 1.33
- Points for Asian instructors are multiplied by 1.50
- Points for instructors from all other continents are multiplied by 1.66
Awards are made to both top Male and Female ProAm Teacher Points Champions as follows:
- 1st place $2100
- 2nd place $1800
- 3rd place $1500
- 4th place $1200
- 5th place $1000
