Wow. What
a great Worlds! Line
dancers everywhere
having fun!!!!!!!
In the now-current 2007 UCWDC(R) Rules, the Line Dance structure has
been greatly relaxed to make UCWDC(R) Line Dance competition much
easier, and loads more fun. It will also simplify qualification for
Worlds XVI(c) in Nashville.
For the exact Rules language, see pg. 12, Part III, Section
B.4.b-e of
the 2007 Rules. Following
is a review of the 2007 Line Dance rule changes first published here on
the Web page in September last year.
1. Newcomers will dance 3 dances of our choice, and must dance those 3
dances for overall.
2. Novice will have 4 dances of our
choice and must dance those 4 dances to qualify for overall
3. Intermediate and Advanced will
have 5 dances of our choice and must dance those 5 dances to qualify
for overall.
4. This means competitors must dance
all of the dances offered in their division to qualify for overall.
5. Newcomer and Novice dances need
not be motion specific.
6. Intermediate and Advanced, Open
and Junior dancers will dance Funky, not Novelty
7. Intermediate and Advanced, Age
Division dancers will dance Novelty, not Funky.
8. If a Funky dance is offered for
Open and Junior divisions, a Novelty dance will be offered for the Age
divisions.

For
all
dances
and Showcase songs, there
is a 15-day "window" before or after the date where Event Directors may
choose to use either the "old" or "new (next)" released dance or song. Please
contact the Event Director for specific titles to be used at their
event.

descriptions are downloadable in "Acrobat - (pdf)" format |
| Note:
The direction of each step or weight change is defined by points of the
clock. The direction that a dancer faces may also be defined by points
of the clock. Stage "front" shall be denoted as 12:00; Stage "right"
shall be denoted as 3:00; Stage "back" shall be denoted as 6:00; and
Stage "left" shall be denoted as 9:00. Diagonal directions of travel
shall be denoted around the clock as 1:30, 4:30, 7:30, and 10:30,
respectively. The amount of rotation for pivots and turns is determined
from the amount of change in clock directions and refers to the
rotation of the dancer's footwork, but does not necessarily indicate
the amount of body rotation, or the body's "facing" contra or open
alignment while stepping. |
Used
in
conjunction with
the step sheets, the videos are designed to aid in the learning of the
vanilla patterns for the dances. If there is a
discrepancy between the Dance Script and the Video, the Dance Script
takes precedence.
